Synapse is an Australian Brain Injury Peak Body with over 100 employees which provides services including supported housing; advocacy; NDIS pre-planning, plan reviews and financial plan management; information; capacity building; support service coordination; and specialist services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Australians. Brain injury and neurocognitive disability has many causes including, general violence, domestic violence, motor vehicle accidents, degenerative diseases (Dementia, Parkinson's, Huntington's, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy), brain tumours, stroke, alcohol, drug abuse, concussion and strokes. Synapse encourages people to rethink their perceptions of people with brain injury and the delivery of support, housing, information and services, so the very best outcomes are achieved.
