General information

Glenelg Libraries aims to develop inclu­sive, pos­i­tive, learn­ing com­mu­ni­ties through open access to ideas, infor­ma­tion, knowl­edge and tech­nol­ogy, and par­tic­i­pa­tion in net­works and activ­i­ties across the Glenelg Shire. The area served by the Glenelg Coun­cil is located in the far south-​western part of Vic­to­ria, approx­i­mately 370 kilo­me­tres from the near­est cap­i­tal city — Mel­bourne. Branch libraries are located at Port­land, Cast­er­ton and Hey­wood with Out­reach loca­tions at Nel­son, Merino, Digby, and Dartmoor.
Glenelg Libraries pro­vide library col­lec­tions of around 35000 items and com­prise books, mag­a­zines, videos, CD’s, cas­settes, news­pa­pers, CD-​Rom, and E-​books. Print­ing, online data­bases and other var­i­ous soft­ware pro­grams are also avail­able, as well as basic Inter­net and IT training.
Other ser­vices include school hol­i­day pro­grams, story-​times, art exhi­bi­tions, and a book chat group.
