What do we do? We look after the interests of butchers, slaughterers, boners, slicers, smallgoodsmakers, packers, sales assistants and a range of other workers employed in butcher shops, abattoirs, boning rooms, smallgoods factories, meat wholesalers and meat processing plants across Australia. If you are looking to see what the union does or what benefits members of the union get, if you want to catch up with industry news or what is happening at particular workplaces, or if you just want to check out the unions price list for knives and other tools, just use the various links and buttons to get the info you need. It is all here on this website. If you are interested in what is happening federally or in our other state branches, these can all be accessed through the links below. Financial Reports The latest financial reports for the Tasmanian Branch can be accessed here. 2018 Election Results Elections were recently held to fill vacant positions within the AMIEU Tasmanian Branch. In accordance with the provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009, the latest Tasmanian Branch Elections results are now available: Delegate to Federal Council: AINSLIE, Jonathan Delegate to Federal Council: MANSFIELD, Glenn Northern Sub-branch Representatives (2): MALINOWSKI, Paul, MANSFIELD, Glenn North West Sub-branch Representative: AINSLIE, Jonathan The results can be downloaded here as a PDF. The election process was conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), and the AEC produced a post-election report. A copy of that report is available from the AMIEU Tasmanian Branch, or from the AEC, upon request by any member who was eligible to vote in the election. The AEC has provided a Post-election Report which identifies a Rule that, in the AEC's opinion, was difficult to interpret or apply in relation to the conduct of the election. In the Post-election Report, the AEC has detailed the difficulty and the process conducted in order to overcome the difficulty. That information could assist the AMIEU to address this matter. The relevant extract is available here as a PDF. The AMIEU has responded to the AEC. That response is available here as a PDF. CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION TO SAVE LOCAL TASMANIAN MEATWORKERS.
